Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport

Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport, gateway of Lyon, Rhône-Alpes and the great french southern, is ideally connected to a very dense motorway network. It makes it easy to reach several touristic destinations and an unique variety of outstanding landscapes in France.

Different possibilities remain at your disposal for getting around easily:

  • The SATOBUS network which connects several times a day the airport with the main cities of the region : Lyon-center, Grenoble, Valencia,...
  • A TGV train station situated within the airport, and which connects you with seven cities of Rhône-Alpes, three italian cities and Paris too,
  • Besides, the presence of numerous car rental companies out of which BUDGET, our partner, will help you to complete the organization of your journey.

Details

Less than 30 km separate the airport and Lyon. Since 1998, the the Old Lyons district is registered as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Lyon, famous for its gastronomy and its cultural wealth, is also turned to future. A stage in the Silk Trail, Lyon is at the centre of a firmly rooted textile tradition. The superb history of the Lyon silk industry really started, with the installation of the first silk manufacture. This unique know-how, for which Lyon was renowned around the world, is intimately linked to Lyon’s history. After looms and canut silk weavers, new fabrics and fibres have been developed with fashion designers ensuring promotion of this art.

With Grenoble, Chambéry, Annecy and Valence, Lyon is one of the major poles of the second French economic region.

In summer or winter, why not get out of town for a day - or more - into an unspoilt natural setting ? About half an hour away you will find the biggest ski areas in the world, France’s most beautiful walking trails and, for golfers, some of the best greens in the country are less than half an hour from Lyon.

Some of the finest French vineyards are in Rhône-Alpes. To appreciate good wine you should begin with a stroll in the vineyards around Lyon. Fragrances, colours, views, enthusiastic winegrowers - this is the starting point for a successful tasting. Each year on the last Thursday in November Beaujolais Nouveau sets out to conquer the world but this is not a reason for neglecting the remarkable quality of Beaujolais Village wines and the sublime bouquets of the 10 Grands Crus.

A charming local accent, enticing fragrances, warm colours ... the south of the Rhône-Alpes region offers the ideal change of scene. Emotions, discoveries and tastings are on the programme of visits around Montelimar, Nyons, Dieulefit, Grignan and Suze-la-Rousse...Olives, vines, lavender, aromatic plants, apricots and other fruit swollen with sun flourish, recalling that we are at the gateway to Provence.
