Less than 30 km separate the airport and Lyon. Since 1998, the the Old Lyons district is registered as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. The superb history of the Lyon silk industry really started, with the installation of the first silk manufacture. After looms and canut silk weavers, new fabrics and fibres have been developed with fashion designers ensuring promotion of this art.
With Grenoble, Chambéry, Annecy and Valence, Lyon is one of the major poles of the second French economic region.
In summer or winter, why not get out of town for a day - or more - into an unspoilt natural setting ? About half an hour away you will find the biggest ski areas in the world, France’s most beautiful walking trails and, for golfers, some of the best greens in the country are less than half an hour from Lyon.
