As asked by the Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS), Air Austral has to collect specific information on every person taking the plane to South Africa. This information aims at assuring the safety of the aviation.

- First and Last Name : as mentionned on your passeport
- Gender
- Bith date
- Nationality / Country code
- Country issuing the document / Country code
Visa
For stays not exceeding three months, a prior visa is not required. A visitor’s permit will be necessarily delivered on the border during when arriving on the South African territory if the following conditions are met :
- A round-trip ticket
- A valid passport 30 days after the planned date of return.
- Supporting documents relative to the costs of the stay:
- Exact address, phone number of the accomodation ,
- or, a hotel booking
Minor children
Formalities for minor children in South Africa : from 1 october 2014, parents arriving or leaving South Africa will have to provide for their accompanying minor children the original (or a certified copy) of the unabridged birth certificate not older than 3 months to south african authorities.
Children travelling with only one of their parents have to supply an authorization of the absent one.
